River of Dreams

Our 5th grade students recently had the incredible opportunity to take part in the River of Dreams Field Trip at MB Johnson Park in Moorhead. Thanks to our partnership with the Wilderness Inquiry team, students were able to paddle together in their signature large, 24-foot voyageur canoes and experience the Red River in a whole new way.

Guided by skilled Wilderness Inquiry leaders, students learned about river ecosystems, watersheds, and the importance of protecting our local environment. The hands-on experience connected classroom learning to the outdoors, helping students see the direct impact waterways have on our community and beyond.

The trip also encouraged teamwork, communication, and perseverance, as paddling the big canoes required everyone to work together. Students enjoyed both the adventure of being on the water and the chance to build stronger bonds with their classmates at the start of the school year.

A big thank you to Taylor Lemieux and the Watershed Education Program, as well as our dedicated teachers and chaperones, for making this meaningful experience possible. The River of Dreams trip is one our students will remember for years to come!
