We had a fantastic visit from Hutch Johnson, who joined us to share his knowledge and passion for meteorology! 🌦️

Hutch taught our students how clouds are formed, explained the science behind tornadoes, and helped them understand how to stay safe during severe weather. Our 4th graders were engaged, curious, and full of thoughtful questions the entire time!

Hutch, thank you for inspiring our students and sparking their excitement about weather and science. We are so grateful you took the time to share your expertise with us! 🌪️☁️

🚌💛 Bus Driver Appreciation! 💛🚌

Today we want to send a BIG thank you to our amazing bus drivers!

Our drivers do so much more than get students from point A to point B — they greet our kids each morning, keep them safe on the road, and help start and end every school day with care and consistency.

We appreciate your patience, your kindness, and the important work you do for our students and families every single day.

👏 THANK YOU, ABW Bus Drivers! 👏

The 4th graders were busy collecting monetary donations the week of November 17th. As a grade, they raised over $1250! They used this money to purchase food to make food kits. They made 16 Thanksgiving casseroles, 17 pancake breakfast boxes, 17 chilli boxes, 18 chicken alfredo boxes, 18 cheesy chicken and rice soup boxes, 16 birthday boxes! The remaining funds were distributed between the food shelves so they are able to items as needed. This project was a hands on experience that allowed the fourth graders to donate their money and time to a great cause. Thank you to the Ada Food Shelf and Twin Valley Food Shelf for partnering with us and being great resources for our communities!

Celebrating Our 5th Grade Team ❤️🖤

Today we shine a spotlight on our outstanding 5th Grade Team — Mrs. Brue and Mrs. Altepeter. Their dedication, compassion, and skill help shape our oldest elementary learners into confident, capable, and kind young leaders.

Every day, they foster classrooms where students feel challenged, supported, and inspired. They go above and beyond to create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences — from educational field trips to opportunities for students to give back to our community, including visits to our local living centers. These experiences help students develop empathy, curiosity, and real-world understanding far beyond the walls of the classroom.

Thank you, Mrs. Brue and Mrs. Altepeter, for the passion and heart you pour into your work. Your leadership, creativity, and commitment to our students make ABW Elementary stronger every single day. ❤️🖤

Celebrating Our Custodial Team — The Heart of Our Safe, Clean, and Welcoming School ❤️🖤

Today we extend our deepest appreciation to our incredible Custodial Team — Brent Vanderplaats, Bonnie Vanderplaats, Jason Bitker, Curt Kemper, Dion Biggers, Brian Pelzman, Ethan Torgerson, and Doug Slininger (Grounds). Their hard work and pride in our school create the clean, safe, and welcoming environment our students and staff depend on every single day.

They show up early, stay late, and bring a dependable presence that strengthens our entire school community.

Their dedication allows students and staff to walk into a building that feels ready for learning, connection, and success each and every day.

Thank you to our entire Custodial Team for the essential work you do and the pride you bring to ABW Elementary. You help make our school a place we are proud to call home. ❤️🖤
